Irreverence towards reason

The 'oxymoron' in my recent work is that I retain the realistic form and at the same time do what I can to show irreverence towards reason and verisimilitude of realism, stressing the metaphysical element which has predominated in the spirit of my painting in recent years. My subject-matter is deliberately 'poor' in the still lifes, in which the background has the dominant role.
